Group buying vs bulk buying
Both rest on the same fact - sellers prefer larger, predictable orders. They differ in who carries the quantity.
Bulk buying: one buyer, one large order
In bulk buying a single buyer commits to a big quantity. It works for a business with storage and cash flow. It does not work for a household that needs one unit, or a small firm that needs a few.
Group buying: many buyers, one combined order
In group buying each buyer needs a small number of units, but together they make the large order. Nobody has to hold stock they do not need; the group is the bulk.
Side by side
Who commits: bulk buying - one buyer; group buying - several buyers, each for their own share.
Cash and storage: bulk buying needs both up front; group buying splits them across the group.
Time: bulk buying can happen at once; group buying waits for a join-by date so the group can form.
Risk: in both, the seller's terms decide the outcome. A group reduces how much any one person carries.
Choosing
If you can carry the quantity yourself and have a use for all of it, buy in bulk. If you want a few and others want the same, a group is the way to reach the quantity without carrying it alone.
Questions
Can a business use group buying?
Yes. Several businesses with the same requirement can join one group instead of each placing a small order.
Which is cheaper?
Neither is automatically cheaper. Price depends on the quantity achieved and what the seller agrees to.
